At Taunton Fire Protection Service we provide a choice of maintenance services all individually priced and offered at the most competitive prices in South West England.
We offer service plans to suit every business. These range from our on-demand service where you simply call for a service, to long-term maintenance contracts for larger organisations.
We also offer a highly convenient emergency call-out service 24/7. This means if you have any urgent need for a system engineer, for example you have a fire or burglar alarm that needs deactivating in the night, then call us on 01823 339733. Note: you do not need to have an existing contract in place to use this service.
When calling our emergency call out we will endeavour to be on-site within 40 miles of Taunton, within 2 hours of your call.
- Fire Alarms
We maintain fire alarms to all relevant British Standards, including BS 5839 and BS 6266.
Typically, for most businesses, fire alarms are tested on a 6 monthly basis and annually if required. However, where fire risk assessment demands a more frequent inspection of your fire alarms, we also provide 3 or 6-monthly inspections.
- Fire Extinguishers
Fire Extinguisher maintenance is carried out to British Standard BS 6506-3:2003 by FETA (Fire Extinguisher Trade Association) qualified engineers. Extinguisher maintenance is typically carried out on a 6 monthly basis and annually if required or more frequently where the risk assessment demands it, for example, factories, garages or high occupancy buildings such as colleges or nursing homes.
- Dry powder extinguishers
Routine testing for a dry powder extinguisher is £5.00 exc VAT (£5.88 inc VAT) but where a recharge is required, including recharge after a discharge test, a reconditioned exchange extinguisher is offered. These are priced:
2kg dry powder extinguisher £15.00 exc VAT* (£17.63 inc VAT)
4kg dry powder extinguisher £17.00 exc VAT* (£19.98 inc VAT)
6kg dry powder extinguisher £22.00 exc VAT* (£25.85 inc VAT)
*There is a minimum charge of £20.80 exc VAT (£24.44 inc VAT) for all services.
- Non-dry powder extinguishers
We offer an All-Inclusive service of £5.00 exc VAT* (£5.88 inc VAT) price for non-dry powder extinguishers. This includes hydraulic testing, discharge testing and recharging, all O rings, tie seals and gauge checks. This All-Inclusive price means the overall cost of maintaining extinguishers is typically considerably cheaper than our competitors, who charge for replacement of these components.
* Please note, this does not cover the cost of repairs resulting from misuse, vandalism or recharging as a result of a routine test.
There is a minimum charge of £20.80 exc VAT (£24.44 inc VAT).
- Emergency lighting
Our system engineers will check all aspects of your emergency lighting are fully functional and reliably maintained. All places of public assembly should ensure their emergency lighting is working properly when mains supply has been cut off.
Note, this service requires us to switch off your mains supply. Testing is usually carried out first thing in the morning, however this can be arranged at any convenient time.
- Security Systems
In addition to servicing fire protection systems, we offer specialist service engineers to maintain many types of security system, including, CCTV, electronic door entry, burglar alarms and automatic door closure on alarm activation.
- Portable Appliance Testing – PAT electrical testing
For companies requiring Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) of electrical equipment we are able to supply qualified service engineers. Many of our customers ask for PAT testing at the same time as fire alarm and extinguisher testing. This minimises the time our engineers are on your premises and ensures all your equipment is inspected and confirmed reliable in the shortest time possible.
